Who’s the prettiest of them all?

The famous litany by Snow-White’s stepmother is known to almost all of us. And in our efforts to be the modern day Snow-White, we can often cross the faint line that differentiates a natural glow and a made up, paste coloration to your skin.

When it comes to makeup, I’ve always believed that less is more. One should look effortlessly flawless and most importantly, feel comfortable in their own skin. You might sit for a makeup session with dreamy thoughts of emerging a diva at the end. However, a professional makeup session can lead to multiple outcomes – but the perfect look for you is not decided by its beauty but by how well it magnifies your own beauty, which is what I’ve always aimed to do for my clients.

Even if you’re applying makeup yourself, here a few things that can make a world of difference to your ultimate look:

• Make sure your face is clean and to wash your brushes regularly before applying makeup to avoid any breakouts on your sensitive skin.
• Do not compromise on the products you use on your face or the ones used by makeup artists on you as the quality of the products used plays a vital role in the final outcome of it all. Some of the brands I highly recommend and use personally for my clients are Lancome, Nars, Chanel, Mac, Bobbi Brown and Benefit, to name a few.

• If you’re going in for day makeup, try using more neutral shades on your eyes such as brown, beige or even a very light pink coupled with eyeliner and mascara to enhance your eyes and a light thin base with a pop of colour on your lips.

• As far as an evening look is concerned, you could always go in with bolder colours such as gold and copper or even a classic smoky eyes which looks fabulous for any event!

Ultimately, makeup is simply self-confidence applied directly to the face – apply only as much is needed. After all, it’s not your makeup that defines you, rather, you define your makeup.
