Beautiful nails can help you nail your look to a T. And to have beautiful nails, applying a pretty nail paint is just not enough. But with the right care, you can carry off any color or nail art you choose.. Here are some tips to show you the way:
Removing last week’s dark nail paint? Don’t worry if the color leaves stains on your nails. Simply put some whitening toothpaste on a spare toothbrush and apply it to scrub the stains off your nails and voila! Your nails will be stain-free and good as new.
Soaking your nails in a mixture of water and white vinegar solution before applying nail polish to remove any remnants of oils or moisturizers from the nail polish remover to prevent bubbles. This will also help the polish in adhering better and prolong the life of your manicure. You can also wipe your nails with a vinegar dampened cotton.
To keep your nails healthy and strong, soak your nails in olive oil or lemon juice. Lemon juice is a natural bleach agent that can remove unseemly yellow stains from your nails and strengthen damaged and peeling nails. Olive oil has natural healing properties – it can penetrate your cuticles to repair any damage done to your nails.
Apply warm coconut oil to your nails and massage for five minutes daily. The nourishing oil works as a moisturizer and prevents nail infections. You can also Vicks VapoRub to combat yeast and bacterial nail infections.
While applying nail paint, apply multiple thin coats instead of one thick coat of paint. A thick coat means that only the top layer will dry, leaving your nails with a clunky polish that will be vulnerable to smudges.
Apply a white base coat before applying the nail color of your choice to really bring out the color on your nails!
Have trouble applying glitter nail paint consistently across your nails? Remember to dab instead of swipe the nail paint brush so as to have a consistent scattering of glitter across your nails. You can smoothen out your manicure with a transparent top coat.
There’s a simple way to remove the glitter paint from your nails. Soak a cotton pad in nail paint remover and wrap it around your nail. Cover the cotton and your nail with aluminium foil to prevent the nail remover from evaporating. Wait for a few minutes before removing the foil to glitter free nails!
Do not use a blow dryer to dry your nails as the heat from the dryer can cause the nail paint to expand, thus, messing up your manicure.
As we’ve said before, apply a little Vaseline around the edges of your nails and you can easily wipe away any stray paint marks. (You can read the full article here).
For beautiful hands, give your hands a good scrub every once in a while. You can easily make a basic manicure scrub at home by mixing 3 teaspoons sugar and 1 sugar olive oil. Apply on your hands and massage gently. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes and rinse.
While this list is not exhaustive and there are tons of nail care remedies and manicure tips out there, we’ve included the easiest of the lot to help keep your nails in tip-top condition.
