Are You a Modern Indian Bride?

Who is a MIB? No, we’re not asking if you routinely shoot misbehaving aliens and ensure they conform to the rules. Move over, Men in Black. The Modern Indian Bride is in town!

Weddings. Once they symbolized a wide variety of occurrences – from the union of two families to the resolution of a familial conflict (a la Yeh Hai Mohabbatein). Today, however, a wedding is a movie with a single lead – the non-blushing bride unafraid of speaking her mind.

So, does the above sound like you? Continue reading to find out.

  1. A modern Indian bride knows what she wants, when she wants it. Her Mehendi has to be a perfectly deep brown color, the  lilies have to be snow white and the cuisine, a mix of Italian, Indian and Continental, and the overhead balloons have to burst at exactly the right moment.

  1. A big fat Indian wedding is the way to go because she is not willing to take a chance on the success of her marriage and anything less than success is simply not unacceptable. After all, while quick marriages and quicker separations may be the norm, a marriage based on love is a rarity to be treasured.

  1. All the important people in her life have to be present – be it the maternal uncles or paternal aunts, the friends from the workplace or the groom’s best friend from childhood. After all, they all have significant roles to play!

  1. Wedding planning and working at the office are equally important to a modern Indian bride. Unwilling to compromise, she is ready to hire an army of planners, helpers and assistants as long as the quality does not suffer and the budget is not exceeded.

  1. While it may seem that the modern Indian bride has a lot on her hands, we believe that her marriage is the most basic of all, because, the foundation of a modern Indian marriage lies in love and that is all anyone can ask for in his/her marriage. As long as the groom and bride shower each other with love and adoration, the modern Indian bride is content.

  • Well..is this article trying to say that extravagnent evening ensures "success of marriage "???. Contrary to this article, modern bride is one who knows how much effort has been put in earning the money and thus ensures that it is not wasted in extravagnance and over splurging.

    • Hi Nupur, this blog is just trying to say that the modern Indian bride does not compromise on anything so that she has no regrets later on. And we believe that it is possible to have a perfect evening without overindulging or overspending. After all, the whole point of all the functions in Indian weddings is to give all the people involved an opportunity to get to know each other better. Whether the arrangements are large gatherings or small, intimate ones, is up to each individual. :)
