The Letters of Hope Campaign was initiated in 2019 by The Aditya Birla Integrated School in an effort to raise awareness about suicide prevention. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death amongst the youth today. According to the WHO, every year close to 8,00,000 people take their own life and there are many more who attempt suicide. An ardent effort needs to be made to reduce these numbers and provide young people with better strategies to deal with stressful challenges around them. An important message that needs to be conveyed to our youth today is, “There is always help for those who are in need of it.” But, reaching out for help can be a daunting task even if you like talking to people. That’s why the Students at The Aditya Birla Integrated School decided to reach out to people through the ‘Letters of Hope’ campaign.
This year, Mpower Minds joined hands with us to spread this message and reached out to schools across the country to create an e-book with hopeful messages, as a contribution towards World Suicide Prevention Day, which is observed on 10th September.
We received approximately 200 letters from 21 schools, across 13 cities in 3 weeks. A compilation of these letters in the form of awareness posters, hopeful art, symbols, messages and quotes have been designed into the Letters of Hope E-Book. We are grateful to all the schools and individuals who partnered with us to make the Letters of Hope reach far and wide. Please download the free e-book from here.
